ABOUT ME

Cadija Barnett
Cadija B.

I am a Woman, a Mother, Daughter, Sister, and friend to many. I am named after the Spiritual Prophet Muhammad's wife. A woman who is known as The Princess of Quaresh, an entrepreneur, a woman who stands on her own. I have always known her name to mean loyal and trustworthy. I have known her to be a spiritual woman who believed in more than herself and worldly possessions. It took many years to know my namesake.

As the 3rd child and girl of my parents, being at the forefront was never my strong suit. I did not learn how to be more than a statue in a room until my mid-twenties. See, the thing is that the women in my family are STRONG. As much as I admired that, in my younger years I did not know how to be THAT. I struggled with low self-esteem, imposter syndrome, just feeling inadequate. I did not know myself. I spent most of my years observing others and trying to please the ones I love. There came a point in my life when enough was enough. I knew and felt my unhappiness, because I was not living MY TRUTH. Instead, I lived the truth of how others saw or wanted to see me. Don't get me wrong, I have not completely done away with that. I do experience the conflict of living on my own terms vs. the terms of others. What keeps me aligned, is the reflection of how much happier I am being me than being WHO THEY WANT ME TO BE.
